Top 12 Strategic Technology Trends for 2022
The Gartner Top 12 Strategic Technology Trends for 2022 and Beyond
Which technology trends will most impact your organization in 2022 and beyond? Strategic technology trends have the potential to both create opportunity and drive significant disruption. Companies must examine the impact of these trends individually and collectively. Business models and operations must shift appropriately, or organizations risk losing competitive advantage to those who do make the shift. These are the trends that IT cannot afford to ignore.
Gartner, Inc. announced its top 12 strategic technology trends for 2022 and beyond. Analysts presented their findings at the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2021, heald virtually for the second year in a row, due to the pandemic. Gartner Research Vice President David Groombridge emphasized that just as 2020 and parts of 2021 found companies focused on survival, the future will focus on a return to the path toward growth. Gartner research released on Monday projects the highest growth rate for IT budgets of the past decade at 3.6% higher than 2021 levels, which are projected to be 2% higher than 2020 levels. The analysis is based on a survey of nearly 2,400 global CIOs and technology executives across various industries.
Just as survival required more creative use of technology, the path to growth will also emphasize creative use of technology, not so surprisingly. Gartner’s strategic technology trends for 2022 and beyond are:
- Hyperautomation
- Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Data Fabric
- AI Engineering
- Autonomic Systems
- Decision Intelligence
- Composable Applications
- Cloud-native Platforms (CNPs)
- Privacy-enhancing Computation (PEC)
- Cybersecurity Mesh
